Steamship Kuru was a Finnish passenger ship that sank in the Näsijärvi lake on 7th of Septemper 1929. As the sinking was and still is the worst maritime tragedy in the history passenger and shipping traffic on Finnish lakes, a statue commemorating the disaster of the Kuru was made by the sculptor Yrjö Liipola. The installation highlighting statue is part of the Näsinpuisto park enviromental lighting. The surroundings have been illuminated using warm ambient light and statue is highlighted with cold light using gobo-projection technique.
