Time of Light

For the diving tower of the Tampere public pool we designed a light artwork based on sunlight and ciculation of earth around the sun. The art piece is called Time of Light. There is embedded pipes in the wall of the tower, two for each month. Every 6th and 21st day of the month sun rays penetrate the wall through one of the pipes just before three o’clock pm. The pipeholes are forming an eight shape, called Analemma, based on position of the sun in the sky on different time of year. The railings of the tower has colored glasses representing turquoise water and blue sky.
