Ahvenisto Olympic pool light art

The 1952 olympics were held in Helsinki Finland and Ahvenisto in the city of Hämeenlinna was the venue for the modern pentathlon where swimming was one of the events. The public outdoor swimming pool has been protected by the Finland’s National Board of Antiquities and after a long wait it is finally being restored to its old glory.

The new service building facade acts as a backdrop for the custom light art pieces that have been carefully designed according to location. All the pieces of the installation are ready now: the shadow of the human figures changes during the day as the sun moves across the sky.
